Week 15: Last Full Week in Germany :(

Week 15: Last Week in the Best Place Ever L
April 29th, 2018

Hallo!

The last full week in Germany has just come to an end and in 3 days, I will no longer be in this place I strangely consider home. This past week comprised of 2 exams, 1 excursions, and our farewell party at the Old AIB… I will start from the beginning!

On Monday, we had our last physiology lecture exam. It went well for everyone in the class and I am proud to say that I actually learned quite a lot of pertinent information about human systems in the class J Ask me any question about cardiovascular, respiratory, or urinary systems and I may have a decent answer for ya!

On Tuesday, we had our last physiology lab exam (YAY) and I guessed B on like 70% of the questions. I scored above average on the exam which is kinda funny and I never really liked lab exams too much ANYWAY because no one ever does well on them. Apparently the students back in College Station did just as terribly as well, so it definitely made our group feel better having such a low scores!

On Wednesday we had the physiology final exam. Everyone did REALLY well and I think it saved my grade in the class. I guess I could now answer as my answer to the Star Wars question, “The student has become the Master.” Definitely was not expecting such great results!

On Thursday, I came into the AIB to start studying for my genetics final, which will take place on my last day in Germany (sadly). Not much else happened on this day except that later that night, I went out my regular group of friends and we had a nice night out in Bonn J

On Friday, we went to Remagen to tour the Peace Museum and have a group lunch. I liked the museum a lot because it was cool to learn about the history of the Rhine area and the walk along the Rhine all together to get to the museum was very enjoyable. After we had lunch at a yummy restaurant where I ordered a grilled salmon and coffee. I always love our group lunches because I feel so spoiled eating these delicious foods and it really didn’t disappoint. After, Dr. Wasser treated everyone to ice cream and we walked back to the train station.
The AIB Farewell party was later that night and it was one of the best nights in Germany! Margarita, my host mother, drove me there and we spent time together eating the yummy foods at the party (barbecue and random pastas and things) and talking together. I got a nice picture with her which I framed and will give to her as a farewell present soon.

This weekend was pretty uneventful, since I was studying for genetics the whole time. I went to the AIB on Saturday for the WiFi since my host home has not had it working since Wednesday and took notes on about half the material for genetics. On Sunday I was at Starbucks for about 7 hours, studying the rest to prepare for the final on Tuesday.

The week flew by too quickly, as I knew it would. I have been feeling sad on and off all week, just knowing this is all coming to an end. Where did the time go? I could not say…
Anyway, thank you for reading and I will update you once more before leaving this beautiful land of Deutschland.

Bis Spater!
