Beach bummin'

Monday was a laid back day. Still stiff from the half marathon, I took it easy after class. I walked through the cherry blossom street in Altstadt. Bonn is really beautiful In the springtime. I had a lot of physiology and 211 lectures this week. I passed through the cherry blossoms everyday that week and took way too many pictures, thinking each one would be better than the last. I went shopping a couple days after school for spring clothes since the weather was so nice out.
On Thursday, I went to the Botanischer Gartens in Poppelsdorf. It was really nice! The gardens have a green house filled with tropical plants of all sizes. There were plenty of blooming flowers and trees. It was a nice break from worrying about all the exams, homework, and finals I had coming up.
Friday, Lauren, Madeline, and I finished classes early. We decided to have a relaxing vacation in Mallorca. We met at the Bonn Hauptbahnhof and caught a train to the Dusseldorf airport for our flight. We took a bumpy cab ride to our hotel along a secluded beach in a national park. Our hotel was a popular vacation spot for many older people and Germans. That night we ate dinner at the hotel, and went to bed, excited to spend the next day on the beach.
We slept in and had a late breakfast. By 10 or 11am we were on the beach. The water was absolutely gorgeous. It was incredibly clear and a bright turquoise color. We laid out in the sun for a bit, then decided to get into the water. It was really cold at first but felt better the longer you were in it. There were some rocks along the beach we climbed up to jump into the water. It was a lot of fun. We went from laying to jumping and back again the whole day. Around 6, we ate pizza at a restaurant on the beach. It was so nice to relax in the sun and jump into the chilly water.
On Sunday, we laid on the beach, enjoying the lovely views. I had a great time swimming and lounging in the sun. Around 3pm we headed back to the hotel. We showered, packed and picked up some snacks before heading back in a taxi to Palma. We dropped our things and left to go explore the city. Along our walk, we stopped for some yummy gelato. Palma has a beautiful cathedral and many walkways lined by trees. We stopped to eat at a small restaurant in a square! All of us had lots of homework to finish, so we loaded up on coffee and headed back to the hotel. I worked on 211 homework, while Lauren and Madeline studied for our 253 final. We had the balcony doors open to cool down the room. Wind and some odd sounds drifted into our room… The faint sound of a woman moaning disrupted my studying. At first, I pretended not to notice, but then the sound got louder. Lauren had already fallen asleep, but Madeline was still up working. I looked over to see if she noticed the noises, and we both burst out laughing. We tried to tone out the sounds while finishing our homework.
