February 2-6
Once
the Vienna excursion was over, Maddie, Lauren, Emily, Corey, Mitchell and I
left the hotel and went to a café in the mall before catching our train to
Budapest. I ended up talking to Corey the whole time while the others finished
up their math homework. About fifteen minutes before our bus was departing, we
decided to go get some food from the grocery store thinking we would have
enough time. When we tried to make our way to the bus stop, we couldn’t find
it. This led to franticly running around and trying to figure out where to go.
Finally we spotted the door that had the bus logo, and we got there right on
time. I ended up sitting next to Ibk and watching the Lorax for the couple of
hours we were on the bus. When arrived, everyone was exhausted so we walked a
couple of miles to the AirBnB. Shortly after, Emily and I got settled into our
room and fell straight to sleep. We woke up the next morning and got ready to
go to the szechenyi baths. This was surprisingly fun once we disregarded the
crowd of half naked people surrounding us. We had a routine of relaxing in the
large, hot pool located outside in the cold, running inside to the sauna,
taking a dip in the freezing cold pool to refresh ourselves, and then repeat.
After the first few times, we discovered the steam room and the hot/cold
showers. This turned out to be the best part. Lauren and Maddie finally made it
after searching for bathing suits. By that time, us four were ready to head
back to the AirBnB since we had been there for about three hours. We got ready
and then hiked up the hill to see the beautiful city’s night-lights. Before
long, it was time for us to head out and meet up with Alwin. We had planned on
going to the haunted house he had been raving about for the past three weeks.
Long story short, he’s a fail and we all decided that we weren’t going to go.
He then decides to take us to ‘the best burger place’. This was also an epic
fail lol; it was average. We went to meet Alwin’s brother, Allen, and his
friends. We chatted a bit, went to the grocery store, and then headed back to
the AirBnB for an early night so we could wake up for the sunrise.
We woke
up around 6 and headed up the hill. The view was gorgeous even though the
clouds were blocking the view of the sunrise. We walked around, saw a nice
church, the Sandor Palace, grabbed some breakfast, and then to the Hungarian
National Art Gallery in Buda Castle. In the afternoon we toured the beautiful parliament
building. We grabbed some Greek food for lunch, walked to Heroes square, and
then to Margaret Island to wonder around. We went to take some pictures across
from the lit up parliament building. For dinner, we met up with Maddie and
Lauren again and ate Goulash. The next morning we woke up at 4 am to catch our
flight. We walked to our bus stop, see it pulling up, and immediately figure
out that the stop was around the corner. We then proceeded to full out sprint
to the bus—good thing or we would have probably missed our flight. We made it
to the airport, and I thought I had lost my passport. After unpacking my entire
bag, I found it at the very bottom of my bag.
Fortunately, we all managed to make it safely onto the plane. Once we
arrived, the majority of the group took a bus back, but Alwin and I took the train
instead. We chatted about random stuff and exchanged stories from Budapest.
This was also the first time he let me listen to his mixed tape---ahhh this was
killerrr ;) We made it back to Bonn, but I missed physiology class since we
were running late. Thankfully Wasser understood, and I borrowed a classmates
notes. Later that day we had some other classes and an enmodes meeting. The
rest of the week was class and life in Bonn as usual, but Karnaval starts
Thursday… something, I’ve heard, will be super fun!
