APR 20-22
We left
to Berlin Friday afternoon. It was a fairly easy train ride there, only about 5
hours. We arrived in the early evening, checked into the hostel, and went to
grab some pizza. We walked around the city for a little bit, met some other
Germans, and then went to a dance club. The next morning started early, we
headed out and grabbed a quick breakfast and then we hit all the touristy sights
you go to in Berlin: check-point
Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building, and the Victory column.
After this Artavia, Kate, and I met this really cool tattoo artist and we
finally got our long awaited tattoos. Sadly Nicky and Austin didn’t partake
haha. In the afternoon, we enjoyed some fruity popsicles and then walked over
to the Berlin wall. We took A LOT of pics ;) and probably spent about an hour
or so walking around. We then headed to the German Espionage Museum, which was pretty
cool. Afterwards, we went to eat dinner at this interesting restaurant where
you have to take your shoes off and sit crisscross on the floor. Once we were
finished we walked around town for a bit and then headed back to our hostel for
a chill night in. The next morning, Kate and Artavia wake up earlier than us to
go to the museum. We left and went to the Tiergarten hoping to go boating.
However, they weren’t open and we ended up having a lovely walk through the
park and enjoying the beautiful weather. We met up with the other two and
headed towards the bus that we were taking back to Bonn. We stopped for a quick
lunch, but the bus driver didn’t let us take food on. I ended up standing
outside with Artavia and eating my pizza in like 5 minutes. I don’t think any
of us were prepared for the 9-hour bus ride, but we had planned on getting all
of our studying done for our physiology exam the next day. This didn’t turn out
as well as we thought because focusing on a miserably hot bus is quite
difficult. I ended up sleeping half the time, while the other half was spent
reading through my notes or talking to Nicky. We got home relatively late that
night, and I went straight to sleep so I could wake up early and study for my
exam.
