Sechs

For this week, not much really happened besides the excursion to Bayer in Leverkusen. We had a Pharmacology assignment to write about some of the drugs produced by Bayer. The excursion to Bayer was very informative. I knew I have seen the Bayer logo before but I never knew it was a German company. The spokesperson talked about the history of Bayer and briefly spoke about Bayer during the World War II era when it was operated by the Nazis and how it transitioned to what it is now. The costs of developing a drug is incredibly expensive.  There were a lot of cool things to do in Bayer. There was a virtual reality machine that had many different visuals to choose from. I am not sure what the purpose of the virtual reality machine but I remember there was one of some bees and another with some old people at a swimming pool. There were many interactive games and a photo booth. There was this whole suit you put on that made your body feel like you were old. The helmet blurred your vision, the vest made you feel heavier and sluggish, the gloves, elbows, wrists, and knees prevented your movement so it seemed like you had problems with your joints. The coolest thing at Bayer was outside Bayer. The Japanese Garden they had was very nice and serene. I wished we spent more time there but we had to catch the bus.
