Big Event und Marathon day// B O N N

On Saturday after Enmodes, we had our big event. This was really exciting for me because it was my first ever big event as I missed the previous year’s big event in college station. I was so excited to give back to Bonn. We met at the old AIB where we got into little groups of about 8-10 and went to our assigned location. My group and I were assigned to a local community park. At the park, Izzie, Darby and I worked on a little garden, clearing out the shrubs and creating plant beds for little kids to plant any flower of their choice. This was hard work but it was so much fun; I got a very good arm workout out of it. In addition, Izzie, Darby and I got to hang out and talk in the process. After working on the garden for a little while, the coordinators that we worked with made us barbecue. I had a hamburger and a sausage it was so delicious and much needed after working. We hung out some more in the park and then we all went back home. After the big event, Izzie, Lexie, Whitney and I planned to go and see the cherry blossoms in Altstadt. However it was already late and we were a feeling a little gross and so we wanted to go and get clean. We decided to go another day.

I went home, took a shower and hung out with Lexie and Corey as we watched "10 things I hate about you." After this movie, I went to my room to work on some assignments. Then I went to bed early to get adequate rest for the marathon the next day. The Marathon was so much fun. We all met at the old AIB according to our scheduled time. I was so excited, pumped and ready to run, even though I didn't feel like I trained adequately for it. My relay team consisted of Dr. Wasser, Me, Izzie and Lexie, respectively, this was the way we ran. Dr Wasser ran the first leg and I the second and so on. I was very impressed by Dr. Wasser as he ran the entire leg. I ran about 5 miles out of the 7 miles I was assigned to run. It was so amazing seeing everyone (the people of Bonn) outside cheering us on, even though they didn’t know us. I met so many elderly people who also impressed me as they were running the full marathon which is about 23 miles. My favorite moment after running was cheering others on and drinking the alcoholic free beer and getting all the free candies and food after. Also Hilda’s amazing waffles which I am pretty sure I ate a little too much of. After the marathon, I went back home and just rested after a busy weekend. I am so excited about the next weekend because it’s my birthday weekend and I will be going to Switzerland with Lexie, Shannon, Corey and Mitchell. I will keep you posted.
