12. Amsterdam

This weekend we headed off to Amsterdam!! This was by far one of the most relaxing trips in Europe. The weather had been absolutely perfect the past few days, it’s actually nice enough to wear shorts. We headed to Amsterdam early Saturday morning, 3 trains later we arrived. Amsterdam is a gorgeous city and everyone bikes everywhere, which I absolutely love. Although if you’re not paying attention it is really easy to almost get run over by a biker. We passed a couple who looked like they were headed to a bbq, the guy was just casually biking carrying a 6 pack with him. I wish cities in America were more bike friendly, but you’d probably die of a heat stroke if you tried to bike anywhere in Dallas during the summer. The first stop on our list was to check out some pancakes, they were delicious. Then we wandered around the city, we didn’t have an agenda and we wanted to be outside because the weather was so perfect. We ended up in a park and everyone took a nap in the grass, it was magical. There was also a bachelor party happening in the park which was hilarious to see, all these guys were dressed up in bowties and they had a gnome with them and a golf caddy (which I’m sure was also filled with plenty of booze in addition to the golf clubs. Anyway, they were doing 18 holes around the city and had to get the ball close to the gnome. After the park we wandered around and then grabbed some dinner.  Sunday morning we stopped by another famous pancake house and these pancakes were even better than the last. We walked along the canals, went shopping and made it back over to the park and relaxed in the sun until it was time to take the train back to Bonn.
