The Enmodes presentation was on Friday this week, so the
days building up to it were hectic! We had big chunks of time for Enmodes on Monday
and Tuesday. By Wednesday and Thursday we were working the entire day and night
on the powerpoint, solidworks, DHF, and presentation. The AIB catered food for
us, both nights which was nice. My team worked on our presentation and diagrams
for the powerpoint for quite awhile. Our presentation was perfected after hours
of practice. I didn’t get home Friday night until about 2 or so. To keep us focused
on working, Dr. Wasser played the ninja turtles theme song a lot. Part of the
song goes “knock, knock you about to get shell shocked.” On Thursday, Mitchell
enlightened Madeline, Lauren, and I with Old Gregg, a fantastically weird video
on youtube. We also had some great team and program bonding time during our
break sessions of ping pong around the world. Ping Pong around the world is an
elite game in which players run in a circle around a ping pong table to return
a ball played to them. When it comes down to the final two players, they must
spin in a circle after each hit. I advanced to the finals several times and won
once.
Friday was the big presentation. Team Michelangelo knocked our presentation out of the park.
I think the Enmodes guys were shell
shocked. Everyone did well. It was so nice to see how all of our hard work
paid off. After the presentation, we got lunch in Aachen. Once we were back in
Bonn, I went home to catch up on sleep.
The AIB had a big volunteering event on Monday. My group was
assigned to a clothing donations place. We sorted donations and filled toiletry
bags. When we were done working, we walked though Altstadt. In the spring, the
streets are pink with blossoming cherry trees.
The Bonn Marathon was on Sunday!! I can’t believe
we ran that distance. It was so fun; the crowds of people were very supportive
and cheered you on. I was so happy to cross the finish line, that I didn’t really
care about my time. We got a nice medal at the finish line. I’m really proud of
how great everyone in the half marathon did. After the race, Madeline, Lauren and I went to
the Hofgarten for the afterparty. We enjoyed some fruits, juice, and non -alcoholic
beer. I felt pretty stiff, so I stretched a lot, and went home after hanging
out with friends.
