"Symphony of Snores" // E N M O D E S WE E K

Enmodes week was crazy. It was a combination of late nights at the aib, lots of ping pong playing to help us relax and take a break, and lots of coffee consumption, and lots of rehearsals. Everything about the presentation had to perfect according to Dr. Wasser's judgement. The powerpoint had to look a certain way and the speech had to sound very put together. The week started off with our second exam for BMEN 211, which is our systems and signals class which is very challenging. After spending Easter monday studying for this exam, and thankful to Romi for the amazing review she gave us, the test went relatively smoothly. During this time as well, I had to complete some of the paperwork for my summer job. This week was a lot, but we were all in it together and so that made it a little better. Also on the night before the final enmodes presentation, my group and I stayed till about 2am in the morning, but we had Ethiopian food for dinner which was really yummy.

After so much preparation for the final enmodes presentation, we were all ready and very tired at this point, seeing that we had just been up late the night before. Off we went to Aachen at 8 am. On the bus, Emily and I sat together, kept each other company by our impromptu karaoke singing and when we got closer to Aachen, we practiced our speech one more time. Nervous and excited we all sat down and it was time to present. The setting was so relaxing and encouraging, and everyone did very very well. We had wine and celebrated our presentations after. Also did I forget to mention that the team of our presentation was based on the teenage mutant ninja turtle movie, and so the teams names were: Team Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello. I was part of Team Michelangelo (aka team Mikey). Although this project was very tasking, which makes sense, I am so glad I got the opportunity to work on it with a group of creative and innovative minds. Working on this project was one of my favorite things I did here in the program. After our presentation, we were treated to a nice lunch at a very nice restaurant where we got to relax and fuel up.

After eating, we went to visit the Enmodes company's office where we got to see the progression of valves replacements from over the years, the PCMO device and got a glimpse of what it feels like to work in a biomedical engineering company. This visit was very nice and reassured for me that I want to remain a biomedical engineering major, after thoughts of me wanting to change my major. After this, we took a group picture and we headed back to Bonn. On our way back, everyone completely knocked out, hence the title symphony of snores, a phrase cleverly put together by Romi. Our presentation day was also Nicky's birthday and so that night after Aachen, we went out to celebrate with Nicky. This was so perfect because everyone wanted to relax and rest after a busy week of working on our Enmodes project.

The Big event and Bonn Marathon is this weekend, I will tell how those go in another blog.
