This weekend was so much fun and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. So we began our journey to Strasbourg at 12 in the afternoon, and got to Strasbourg at almost 9 pm on Friday. We checked into the hotel and went out to get dinner. We found a taco place, which according to the web was the best taco place in the area. So we were all really excited. When we got there however, we got burritos instead of tacos because the tacos were actually burritos and not tacos, but this was okay though because it was still really good, and the fact that it had pommes (fries) in it as well made it even more delicious. After dinner, we walked around the cute city of Strasbourg for a bit. It was so beautiful. I was so excited to be back in France because I love France so much. Their architecture design and the language just makes me happy. After walking around, we decided to go back to the hotel to have a movie night. We were going to watch a movie but the internet was not really working so movie night didn't end up happening, but something sweet happened. Joseph shared a very nice family easter tradition with us. He bought us all our favorite candies, He got me a box of assorted chocolate, he got Lexie a bag of gummies and he got Jack a pack of sneakers. This made all our nights. We decided to retire for the night because we had an early day ahead of us the next day.
The next day, we had a day trip to Rust, Germany. We went to the famous Europa Park, which is the best amusement park in Europe. We woke up before 8 am to catch our bus at 8am. We got to Europa park at a little after 9 am. Europa park was truly magical and brought out the kid in me. The night before Lexie and I looked up the best rides to do at Europa park, the top ones were Silver star, Blue fire, Wodan, Arthur and Eurodam. Sadly, Eurodam was under construction and so we could not get on it. However, we were able to do the others. We loved Silver star so much that we did it 5 times. My favorite roller coaster however was the Wodan. It was the only roller coaster made of wood. It gave me the most adrenaline rush. We did all of the rides first before we got lunch because we did not want to throw up. For lunch, we went to a little pasta shop in the park, where I got tagliolini pasta with bolognese sauce. After this, I also spilted some mini donuts with Joseph. We had lunch at around 3 pm, and so we just walked around to see smaller rides that we could do after lunch. Jack, Joseph and I did a little mushroom spiny ride while Lexie took a video of us because she did not want to get on the ride. One cool thing about europa park is that the theme of the park is the different countries in Europe. So each ride was designed around a particular country. When the closing time of Europa park was approaching, which was 6 pm, we decided to visit the souvenir shop on our way out. As expected things were a little expensive there but they were so cute. We left the park at around 6:30 pm. After we left, we went to a doner place. Joseph and I got pomdoner (which is just lamb and french fries). Lexie and Jack got doner pizza. We caught our bus and headed back to Strasbourg. That night, we walked around Strasbourg again further than we did the night before and we went back to the hotel, and figured out plans for Easter sunday.
The next day, Lexie, Joseph and I went to Trinity International Church which was about 10 minutes away from our hotel. Church was fun. Everyone was super friendly and they gave us cute Easter snacks. Seeing that it is an international church, the members of church were people from all over the world, and the entire service was in English including the worship. It was a nice way to start Easter sunday. After church, we got lunch, checked out of our hotel, and went to see the touristy sights of Strasbourg. We went to the top of the Strasbourg cathedral, where we go a bird eye view of the city of Strasbourg. This view was absolutely beautiful. The varied patterned design on the rooftops made it more pretty. Also when we go up there, it suddenly began to hail and it was very cold and windy. We took pictures and headed for descent. When we got down, we went to Palais Rohan, a fancy building with a collection of 3 museums, which was conveniently right next to the cathedral. We did not want to pay for the museums so we just went in to look around at what we were allowed to see. After this, we went to Petite france, which is a little cute quarter of Strasbourg. We took some pictures and we continued walking around some more. We saw the Vauban dam, and ponts couverts. We then walked to the University of Strasbourg, where we found a really cool art piece that we had a mini photoshoot that lasted about an hour. After this with some time on our hand, as our overnight bus was scheduled to come at 12:10 am, we randomly stumbled upon a movie theater. We decided to watch a movie in France. We watched "Ready player one." It was an amazing movie. At first, I did not think that I would like it because it was about a futuristic world of gaming where people basically live their lives in virtual reality. After the movie, we went to catch our bus and headed back for Bonn.
This weekend was the perfect easter break getaway, I love France so much and I am so glad I got to go back to see another city. Next week is all about getting ready for our Enmodes presentation, I will keep you posted.
