Monday was a holiday, I arrived back from Easter road trip.
I unpacked, and my host mom and I went for a walk around Poppelsdorf that
afternoon. She showed me some university buildings and beautiful streets in
Bonn.
On Tuesday, our program went on an excursion to Bingen to
visit the Hildeguard Museum vom Strom.
Hildeguard was a nun, polymath, composer, and writer back in the 12th
century. She also had visions which she documented. She practiced natural and
holistic medicine and used a variety of herbs and plants to treat patients. The
museum was interesting; it had a little “Hildegarten” filled with plants she
used for treatments. After the museum, we ate lunch at a restaurant along the
Rhine. The food was nice, and put everyone to sleep on the bus ride back.
The rest of the week was busy with school, including Enmodes
meetings. I had a 211 exam that week, which took a while to prepare for.
On Wednesday after classes, I went with Lauren, her mom, and
Madeline to cologne. We walked around for a bit, went into a couple shops, and
ate dinner at Gaffel am Dom. Madeline and I split some amazing schnitzel
covered in spinach sauce with an egg ontop and potato pancakes. The food and
kolsch at Gaffel is so good. I really like that restaurant. Lauren’s mom drove
us back to Bonn, and I went back home.
On Saturday, Mitchell, Madeline, Lauren and I rented a
paddle boat in Rhineaue park. We had a ton of fun paddling around the little
lake. We found a soccer ball and used it for volleyball. Two german guys asked
if they could join our game. We volleyed the ball around till about 5 pm when we
decided to head out for dinner.
Madeline and Lauren invited Mitchell and I to stay for
dinner at their home. Their host family was having a barbeque. It was fun
meeting their host family, and the food was nice too! We played around with the
balls we found in the park for a bit,
then I headed home.
Sunday was uneventful. I just worked on school, talked with
my parents, and blogged.
