Week 14: We’re in the En(modes)dgame now

Enmodes. The end of days. Ragnarok. It has come. It has happened. It was… actually not bad. The days before were… stressful, to say the least. Definitely cycled between ready, steady, and defeated a number of times but we ended up managing everything. One gripe I had is that they told us at first that the second day would be the long day. And then on the first day, they said that the first day would be the long day. Fine, then I would get to go to an event happening the next night. The second day comes around and, despite how late we stayed the night before, it’s decided that that day is once again the long day. What? I wonder if it was a simple mistake or they lied to motivate us to keep working on the first day… probably the former but it’s interesting to think about. Our presentation (as in ability to present) definitely improved from the time spent practicing so we were more or less ready for the presentation. Either way, Enmodes day comes and we prep for the culmination of all the work we’ve put in. And… it goes pretty smoothly. They had some questions that we were able to answer fairly well (except for one question relating to patents but that’s ok). But yeah, things went pretty smoothly.

After Enmodes, I went to Berlin and had a pretty fun time. I was able to stay in a nice hotel for free (on a really uncomfortable couch so… still mostly worth it). We saw the historical sights in Berlin, including multiple sections of the Berlin Wall, the Eastside Gallery, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Brandenburg Gate. The food was also varied and quite good. One night, we went to a dance hall and had an absolute blast. The music varied as the night went on, going from more classical dancing music and ending in the range of 80s-00s music. Overall, a really good time as the semester approaches it’s end.
