This weekend we finally got to go
to Berlin. It was so interesting to see the giant dome at the top of the
building of the former Nazi headquarters. It had great views and stood for the
peace among nations that should be represented. We also saw all of the
diplomatic buildings and embassies around it. We did attempt to go to the
currywurst museum, however they were apparently having rennovations done. We
did get to see checkpoint Charlie, the location of where the first german
soldier crossed over from east Berlin to the west. We did go along the border
and see the Berlin wall, which had beautiful depictions of freedom, oppression,
and more, on each block of concrete. We spent the day doing that and enjoying
the scenery of the city.
The following day we went to the Pergamom
museum which was about the history of the ancient empires, like Mesopotamia and
Babylon. It was interesting to see the history that has not been mentioned very
often in our history classes throughout the years. we learned how one empire would rule and influence those around it and the methods of architecture and lifestyle one would have compared to the next.
