Week 14 - enmodes
Amsterdam seemed like a far-away fantasy when we came back to Bonn for some intense schoolwork. Our final enmodes presentations were Thursday, so Tuesday and Wednesday night everyone had to stay at the AIB until around midnight to practice practice practice our presentations. As we couldn't go home for dinner because we couldn't leave without Dr. Wasser's seal of approval on our presentations, he bought us pizza both nights. Although it was stressful and intense, there was a real sense of teamwork and camaraderie staying late at the AIB with everyone, finalizing a project that we had worked on together all semester. Thursday morning, with everyone dressed business casual (shout out to Angelica for letting me borrow her dress!) we headed to Aachen. I was quite nervous, but we had practiced so much and knew our design so well, I knew it would be fine. And it was! All the groups' presentations were borderline flawless, and enmodes was really receptive to our ideas. To finish our semester-long "internship" of sorts, we toasted with champagne. I really loved working on this project all semester. It was such a great feeling to present to the C.E.O. of a company a design - OUR design - to improve his medical device. We brainstormed, calculated, researched, designed, struggled, and finally presented a solution that we are really proud of. Most times it was difficult to balance working on this project and doing all the other homework we have and studying for all of our finals, but overall it was a great experience. Thank you to Dr. Wasser and enmodes for presenting us with this amazing opportunity!
