Week
1: January 11-17
On Wednesday, January 13, I have
finally arrived in Germany. It was a long and stressful plane trip over. It was
difficult to adjust to the cold weather after leaving warm Texas. The weather
was rainy and the sky was overcast. After arriving in Frankfurt, we took a bus
to Bonn, where we meet our host families. The jetlag was terrible and the only
thing that I wanted to do was sleep. The following day, we had a lunch meeting
and had an orientation tour with one of the student workers.
On Friday, we had to take care of
our visa documents because of the length of our program. After lunch, we went
to Mayschoss to have a wine tasting and hike. The weather was terrible as it
was cold and rainy.
On Saturday, we went to Poppelsdorf
to meet up and then went on a hike in the mountains in around the area. It was
very exhausting and the ground was muddy because of the weather. It was an interesting
experience, but it wouldn’t be something that I would do by choice.
