Finals Week and Farewell Party

Finals week in Germany was pretty good. We had our last physiology exam on Monday as well as our BMEN 253 final and then we had a break on Tuesday. On Wednesday we had our physiology final and then Thursday was our BMEN 211 final. I think the finals themselves went well. It was also nice that the finals were somewhat spaced out. I enjoyed studying for the finals more than normal because it gave me more time to hang out at the AIB. I grew to like the AIB quite a lot over the course of the semester and it was sad saying goodbye to it in the end. But we haven’t reached the end of the trip yet. After finals there was still the going away party, a trip to Prague, and the Rhine cruise.  I also had a trip to Åland (an island of the coast of Sweden) with Ashley before my flight back home to Houston. For now, lets talk about the farewell party.

The farewell party was pretty great. There was a ‘bluesey’ band there playing some nice dancing music. They had a base a piano player singing and some guitar. The band did a really nice job. All of the host families were there too. It was good for them to meet all of the other students who they had heard about all semester.   Fenya (the German teacher) put together all of the decorations for the party and made it a really nice venue. There were nice canopies, giving it a nice party vibe, and enough food and beer to make anyone happy. All of the students studying through AIB were there and having a good time. We watched some of the videos that the visualization group made. They were entertaining!  Then we watched a slideshow of the pictures of the biomedical science group. That was fun. We got to retrace our journeys throughout the semester through the pictures we had taken. After dinner and watching the videos it was time to dance! Ashley and I and some other people danced as well as we could (which wasn’t very good) to the groovy tunes of the band. It was a great farewell party, and a nice way to end the time we had in Germany.
