It was the night before we made our excursion to France. I was so excited that I even set an alarm before 5:00am so that I could have time to pack clothes. Throughout the night I even woke in a warm sweat because I was too eggsited to go to France.
5:00am rolls around and I hopped out of bed with a weary but ready face. I grabbed my gear and headed towards the door. That morning however, my stairs were feeling extra slippery. On the 5th-ish step I proceeded to slip and take a hit of wooden stairs straight to the face. Disoriented and in pain I picked up my fallen gear and left my house.
For the first time I made it to the train without having to run to it (for some reason I think it's 10 minutes away when its about a 15 minute walk). Once I got to Hauptbahnhof, I walked to the buses, only to find Wasser looking around for crepes. Finally, the buses arrive along with the rest of the students, and we board.
ON the bus we find out Caleb hasn't brought his passport. So we waited. Which i don't get the reason for, because like i get it it makes sense to bring a passport to another country but its in the EU. They're border security is a joke, well that just maybe because we are not "suspicious" aka arab. Caleb is whiter than chalk and never got stopped to show his passport at least on the excursion. I know I needed mine because i would travel to Dublin after Paris.
Moving on, the bus started to finally move and the boredom started to set in. Fortunately, Someone knows about a game called "Telephone with pictures", which, surprisingly, is like Telephone but with pictures instead of just words. The drive was only supposed to be like 4 hours, but for some reason BUS DRIVERS CAN'T DRIVE FOR MORE THAN 2 HOURS AT A TIME in Europe?! DUH FUDGE is that? In America, we've got people driving for 18 hours straight. Although that is pretty dangerous, so maybe some happy medium should be found. After all the stops we made, it ended up being a 5 and a half hour drive to Colmar.
We pulled into Colmar pretty late, dropped off our crap at the hotel and went out to eat at a nice local restaurant. Everyone was incredibly excited that there was wine with the meal. Then the unexpected happened. This meaty thing came out with some salad. It was a meat jelly thing, and everyone had the same question, "is this all we get?!". Thankfully, it was followed by a freaking delicious entree and dessert. Happily, we went back to the hotel and a group of us stayed up to talk about life's issues, poopa da pants, and music.
