Brrrrr!

I thoroughly enjoy the heat that comes with living in Texas. I'm actually very surprised at how well I am adapting to this below freezing weather. While my nose and ears still turn bright red every time I go outside, I'm comfortable walking around the city of Bonn, despite -5 degree Celsius temperatures. I have always been the girl who complains once it starts to get below 60 degrees Fahrenheit in College Station.

I am a child at heart. Going to see the Castle last weekend made me feel the way every little girl should feel when seeing something out of a fairy tale - I don't care how drafty and crowded living in a Castle would be, if I lived there, I could be a princess :) That being said, yesterday we
took a trip to the Haribo outlet store! On top of the excessive amounts of candy that I bought, I got myself a new teddy bear. I realized the first night here that I had left my bear at home and would have to suffer through the semester without one. Last week I told my mom I simply couldn't continue like this, and asked her politely to mail me Teddy. At Haribo, however, I found the cutest gummy-bear-shaped bear and had to have it. This is a picture of my new friend, Harry :) Along with Harry, I got lots of lemon flavored gummy bears and cherry-chili-flavored chocolate bars. The chocolate, I am pleased to say, is fantastich!

It probably comes as no surprise that I love chocolate. I'm a girl and at times I'm still a child so it is probably expected. A sub category of my love for chocolate, though, are chocolate covered donettes. Anyone who wasn't deprived of their childhood knows what I am talking about. They also come in little white powdered sugar version, but in my humble opinion, the chocolate covered ones are far superior. I've been coping with this by getting plenty of chocolate in my system elsewhere. Yesterday I came across the most delicious donut experience I have ever been lucky enough to try. A donut, the bottom half dipped in chocolate, the top half drizzled with more chocolate, and throughout the middle of the donut concentric with the inner and outer rim of the donut, a layer of nutella. I thought there was no chance I would find anything
comparable for a very long time. Go figure, I was wrong. This morning, while waiting for the bus, I decided to stop in a bakery to warm my hands and grab a donut. The donut I picked looked like any normal chocolate donut, completely covered in chocolate. This donut however wasn't just covered with a thin, pathetic layer of chocolate. This chocolate was thick and hard and waited to melt in your mouth, not all over your hand. It was the perfect regular-donut-sized version of my good old chocolate covered donette. I will definitely be returning for more :)
