This weekend, a group of us went to Dusseldorf, Germany. I really enjoyed seeing a different part of Germany, especially since I have not traveled in Germany farther than Cologne. Our first order of business was finding our hotel, which turned out to be pretty easy and not stressful. On the way there I even found a street with my name in it! Then, we visited the K20 museum, which has art from the early 20th century to 1945. It was fun seeing the different kinds of art. My favorite was the room with a lot of paper clouds hanging from the ceiling. There was even a station where you could make your own paper clouds and hang them up too. This room also had a few sculptures made of thin metal and spider silk. The artist had used spiders to weave webs that were incorporated into the art.
Once we left the museum, we went to lunch and then explored the city some. At night, we celebrated karneval. It was interesting to be able to compare the karneval festivities in Dusseldorf to those in Cologne. The cities are different in that Dusseldorf seems more condensed, so the celebration was confined to a few blocks. In a way, it made it more fun because there were so many people dressed up in one place as opposed to people being spread out around the town.
I really enjoyed visiting Dusseldorf and I hope to continue visiting more cities around Germany!
Tschuss!
