Week 4 Vienna

Traveling in Vienna was such a great experience due to the rich medical history the city has to offer. This trip was the ABSOLUTE COOLEST since I got to visit a building previously used for housing people with mental/physical conditions. This place had the craziest exhibit of preserved organs/body parts and wax models of diseased tissue than anywhere else I heard of. I was able to witness gruesome gunshot wounds, understand how disgusting and serious diseases like syphilis was during older time periods, and saw some really wild stuff like conjoined twins! Visiting the crypts where they buried people was also very cool as I did not expect to find a wall of stacked femurs? We also went to a classical concert which was interesting since it was played in a historical church, but It wouldn’t be something I would personally do again. The chairs in that church really made me self-reflect how spoiled I had been in having comfortable seating. Additional trips involved visiting an authentic pharmacy and the Natural History Museum! The history museum was so cool as It had animatronic dinosaurs, wax models of prehistoric birds and humans, collections of sea creatures and went into more depth of past cultures and tons more! This is a place where my inner child came out as I kept getting left behind by the group since I wanted to examine everything.  When we weren’t spending time with school group trips, we made time to visit the bars in Vienna. We tried to go to a spot we thought was a cheap bar, but turned out to be a dorm for college kids that didn’t happen to be doing anything that night. We had to ask around for a bar and actually received some good advice from a local who actually worked as a comedian at a few of the bars around town. The place he recommended was a great choice since we were able to have one euro shots! We ended up having so many shots the floor we were on ran out! We also made friends with the people next to us who were impressed at “how much Americans can drink.” They ended up inviting us to a club after the bar! On the way to the bar we stopped at a pizza place that also had strong and cheap shots too! The club ended up being super fun and I was surprised by how many people our age were there as well as the songs they played as I knew most of them. As our Vienna trip approached an end as the week came to a close, I and a group of others traveled to prague for the weekend. That was a cool trip as we were able to see the astronomical clock in action, visit a castle, see a sex museum, visit a torture museum and try these great deserts that are kinda like ice cream and cake mixed together.
