This past Wednesday we were able to make an all day trip to see Bayer and the Neanderthal museum. I didn’t know much about Bayer before the trip and was really impressed by the whole presentation on the wide scope of activities there. The tour was rather lengthy, but there was some fun thrown in with what really were some interesting sights. The most surprising part of the presentation was probably the awareness of and dedication to fighting different world wide problems that larger companies usually have more of a hand in creating than fixing. Aside from all that, seeing the machines that do the production and packing for the company was also a nice treat.
We had already learned quite a bit about the Neanderthals from our history of medicine class, but the museum was still a good visit. I enjoyed seeing the models and replica skeletons they housed of human predecessors. Afterward we visited the site where some of the bones were originally found I believe, but by that point I was a bit too tired to ask any more questions about the history of man.
