Week 7

Coolest Kids in the Program
This week was filled with schoolwork in the beginning, but at the tail end we started our biggest adventure yet, France! As the end of the week approached, we packed our bags, got up far earlier than anyone should ever have to, and hopped on our bus. Our first stop was Colmar, which was a pretty cute little town. Weirdly though these little towns in France don't seem to really have people in them. All of the shops seemed to be closed and everyone seemed to be asleep, which made finding food kind of hard.

Isenheim Altarpiece
This was definitely the coolest part of Colmar. The rest of the museum was filled with lots of really incredible old artwork, but this piece was the main attraction. The Isemheim Altar is definitely one of the more gruesome crucifixion pieces out there. The size was really amazing too, I can barely draw a stick figure so these things always amaze me. After this we made our way to the next stop, Beaune.

Beaune Altarpiece "The Last Judgement"
Beaune in a lot of ways felt very similar to Colmar. We visited an equally interesting place, the Hotel Dieu. Inside it held this piece, the Beaune Altarpiece. The entire place was a kind of church/hospital hybrid in the past. Overall Beaune and Colmar had a lot more to offer than I had originally expected. I would have never guessed those little towns held these gems.
