Views in Prague

Prague was my first weekend adventure and it was absolutely beautiful! We visited the famous astronomical clock in the town square. There were also many street performers and my favorite was a band who played a song which had a line about ice cream and coca cola. The band even had a man who played a wash board and he was amazing!!
Czech street food was also really good! I ate fried dough with ice cream, greasy potato chips, and potato dumplings! Yumm!!
Other places we visited include the famous Charles Bridge and Prague castle. Prague castle had some of the most beautiful views and I made sure to get a couple of pictures!
My favorite place to visit in Prague was the Jewish quarter. There we entered different synagogues that survived World War II and the holocaust. The Spanish synagogue is absolutely lovely and held many precious things that belonged to the Jewish community like silver Torah pointers and Torah covers. However, the most impactful synagogue for me was the Pinkas synagogue. On the walls are the names of the Czech Jews that were killed during the holocaust. It was shocking to see how many people died. You hear the numbers all the time in school and they are horrific. But, to see the names of individuals covering the walls the terror that was the holocaust becomes even more real. Although it is horrifying and sickening to even just get a small glimpse what happened to these people, I believe it is important that everyone visit at least one holocaust memorial site to honor those who died and to see what happened. By doing this, we can work together to ensure the holocaust never happens again.
