Past Weekend Trips: Part 1

A couple weekends ago I went to London for a couple days with a few friends.  The weather was brutal but the city was still incredible.  We began our first day with a trip on the London Eye.  It was an excellent start because we were able to see the entire city from above, and get our bearings for where we wanted to walk around for the rest of the day.  I was a little fearful from the height at first but the view of the city was enough to make me forget my fear.

After we were on solid ground again we crossed the river and got an up-close view of Big Ben and Parliament then moved to take more pictures in front of Westminster Abbey.  After a quick lunch (and I really mean quick because the waiter hurried us out of the restaurant so he could free our table) we started on our way to Buckingham Palace.  We took pictures in front of the mounted guards who, as expected, gave no response then began meandering through St. James's Park on our way to the front of the palace.  On our way we made a couple friends...

We ended our day at the Chocolate Festival where I was temped by everything around me.

Day 2 did not disappoint because we spent all day at Hogwarts!  We got on the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station and made our way to The Making of Harry Potter.

We spent all day touring the set where all of the Harry Potter movies were made and saw lots of real props that were used, of which some of our favorites were: the Night Bus, Hagrid's animatronic head, Diagon Alley, and the huge model of Hogwarts.
