Program Neat Stuff
Well, like the title of this post implies, this post will be primarily about the cool stuff we got to see on the program. The first part that I'd like to bring up is the Gestapo house. It wasn't really a fun part of the trip but I think it was an important part of German and western history and it was a good way to get a better understanding of World War II and the Holocaust. The tour of the museum in Bonn, led by Dr. Wasser, was also a good way to get a better view of German history, especially the rift between Eastern and Western Germany. Since this isn't something that is covered in very much detail during high school, it was a great deal of new information. Side note: the tank and the tiny, one-seater car were pretty sweet. Besides the history part, taking the roof top tour of the Cologne Cathedral was a magical experience. Seeing all of the Cologne skyline from what felt like the roof of the city was one of the cooler things I've ever done. The last thing I'll say about the program is that studying here is one of the hardest things I've ever done because of all the distractions that are never far from disrupting my studies.
