Week 1.5 feat. a lot of cool stuff

About a week and a half has passed since we have arrived in Germany, and I am really enjoying it here! So many things have happened: traveling to Mayschoss to drink wine, to Dusseldorf to check out Sarah Jacobson's church, going out on monday nights, trying new beers, exploring museums, traveling to Aachen and discovering our project with Enmodes, and just this past weekend we all went to Brussel's Belgium!

I slacked a little on posting this blog so unfortunately there are too many details to tell them all, but overall this has been an incredible week and a half. First of all I LOVE my host family. Its really cool to live with Shawn, and such a welcoming, fun, sarcastic host family that drops a lot to make sure we are having an amazing time. Chico, our 16 year old host brother, is really good about taking us around and showing us all of the cool places around Bonn. Mariana, our 21 year old host sister, is incredibly sarcastic (we are soon discovering she gets that from her mom), acts like she doesn't like us, but she really does and we enjoy hanging out with her! She even went out with us one night! And Andre, our 19 year old host brother whom we just met yesterday, is super hilarious and is willing to take us out and hangout with us! Andre seems really cool, especially since he is our age, and his sense of humor is hilarious. Our host mom is so sweet and kind, and also sarcastic, so its always funny around them. I really look forward to coming home to spend time with them after school. Moreover, our family is really encouraging of us learning the German language which is really cool, so hopefully we can pick up some of the language.

Traveling is so easy in Europe and I love it. School isn't super demanding with 12 hours, so its nice to be able to go out with friends a lot and try new beers and go make some really cool memories with everyone. We have had a few nights of going out and just having a great time in Bonn. This past weekend we all went to Brussels Belgium, a beautiful and a type of cultural mixture of mainly Dutch and French. The European Union is based in Brussels and we got a glimpse of that powerful square mile where all the work happens, but we mainly explored the town centre with the iconic Grand Place with GORGEOUS gothic buildings, Manneken Pis the peeing boy, and of course, Belgian waffles, chocolate and beer. Its so fun to travel and explore a brand new city with good company and I must say I love it.

Its so special to be here, and I am so thankful for it. To make some new best friends and see this new world with them is something spectacular.Whats also really cool is that whenever we are exploring new cities, we are each looking for a different aspect of its beauty. So when we are all traveling together, we are not only restricted to the aspect of beauty we are looking for, but everyone else's too. When traveling with others, you see so much more beauty in a city than you would traveling alone. I love it.

Also a Bailey's Berliner is my favorite Berliner.
