Week 7!!!

This week was pretty rough. I was pretty sick and had a bad cough throughout the week, and studying late for the physiology test several days didn't really help. During the weekend I went to Berlin and had a great time. I've been once before and had a good time and it was cool to see different things and wander through the city. We had some really great food and talked to some cool people. On Friday we went to Museum Island and took cool pictures in front of the beautiful buildings. Something that I hadn't seen before was The Neue Wache which was a memorial building to Memorial to the Victims of Fascism and Militarism. The story behind the sculpture and memorial was moving and a good precursor to seeing the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and Memorial to the Homosexuals Persecuted under Nazism. The Memorial to the Homosexuals Persecuted under Nazism was something I was looking forward to for quite a time since I am part of the LGBT community. It was pretty cool because inside the structure they play a clip of pictures and videos of LGBT activists across the years. We saw the Brandenburg gate, the East Side Gallery, the Parliament Building, the Memorial to the Murdered Roma and Sinti. Something I love about Berlin is you find history on every corner and it opens up your perspective to the struggles of different people. It's such a multicultural center and there's people from all different walks of life and it's a really interesting city. Definitely a place I would love to visit again and continue to explore.
