Zurich, $witzerland for Ea$ter

How should a bunch of broke college kids spend one of the longer breaks on their study abroad? By visiting the second most expensive city in the world of course. That's the only logical way to do it!

We arrived in Zurich and went to our hotel to get settled in. Our hotel was connected to three other hotels and we walked in to the first two before we went into the our actual one, which was a budget hotel so we basically should of checked there first.

So Switzerland is known for the Swiss Alps and the lake and Rhine falls and basically, if you want to have a great time there, its gotta be sunny and warm and not freezing rainy and cloudy.

One person on our trip decided to drink Jim Beam from a fountain that had no lid on it. He was happy to report to us that the liquid inside the Jim Beam bottle wasn't Jim Beam! Exciting!

The first day, it was the latter. We walked through town and nobody was out. We saw the lake and fog everywhere. So we decided to take a train into the mountains to go higher up into the rain and the fog. We successfully achieved this and was able to look like we were all part of a horror movies. There was fog everywhere and we could see people approaching us that looked like zombies.

Looking for food while we were there was a very hard and complicated thing to. A pasta dish from an Italian place could range from 17-35 Franks. So we looked into burger king. Burger King had a burger, fries, and drink for 17 Franks as well. So we went to a kiosk store and ate croissants for 4 franks. For dinner, we ate a 10 frank burger from our hotel. For 10 franks, it wasn't bad because it came with fries too.

That night, I found out one of my favorite members of one of my favorite band died so I had to go watch their documentary before I went to bed to pay respect. Rest in peace Phife Dawg. Here's a small bio on Phife Dawg:

Phife Dawg, otherwise known as Malik Taylor, or the funky diabetic, or the five foot assassin, was a member of the 1990's alternative rap group A Tribe Called Quest. He will be remembered for his verses in Bugging Out, Electric Relaxation, Oh My God, and Can I Kick It. He passed away from complications of diabetes.

The next day was beautiful. The only problem, I was sick. I got a really sore throat, was cold everywhere, a head ache, but I fought through it. We went to Rhine falls and it was basically Niagra Falls's younger half brother. It was still pretty cool to look at but after seeing Niagra falls, it was just like another river. We then went on a river cruise after that for about an hour and a half and saw the mountains that were covered by fog a day earlier. Jay met two women who were 30 or so and decided to get clubbing advice from them.

Half of our group went back to the hotel and and the other half decided to take a paddle boat out onto the lake for an hour. We played music and danced on our boat which made us stand out like the loud annoying Americans we are. It was a lot of fun though. We ate Cheese Fondu that night for what was supposed to be about 48 franks a person but we were able to order the single portions and split everything for 23 franks each. We even got chocolate mouse out of it so that was pretty cool. AND the water was free. Crazy after living in Germany for a semester.

The next day Kyle and I flew back so he could be with his host sister on her birthday so I watched several stand ups and movies while trying to get better.

That was my Easter!
