Celebrating my 21st in a country where I'm 3 years too late...

I know my birthday was almost a month ago... Geez, time is going by so quickly, but I still wanted to talk about celebrating my birthday in another country away from my friends and family. I thought 21 was pretty young, but in Germany I'm like the freaking old maid. It's probably for the best that I didn't celebrate my 21st in America with all of my country, alcoholic friends (no offense guys) but chances are I would have been struttin' my stuff, taking shots in every bar on NG, and not remembering majority of the celebration (sorry you have to read this Mum). BUT, low and behold, I celebrated with ONLY one shot at midnight and with just a couple of friends keeping it casual. It was mainly because I had class early the next morning, but still I turn 21 and I decide to be responsible Shelby. Ha okay, who am I kidding?! I'm lying. I definitely celebrated thoroughly Friday night. Being 3 years too late in this country wasn't going to stop me. I've looked forward to this day for far too long haha (and again, sorry Mum). But truthfully, the only thing I really missed on my birthday (besides my friends and family and all that good stuff) was pre-gaming Thursday night with $2 special margs at Casa Rodriguez. And it gets worse! I missed out on old Mexican guys buying everyone free games of pool in the sketchy bar down the street. Wow. Seriously a bummer. I had to miss all that due to being in Germany.

Okay in all seriousness, no more sarcasm, celebrating my birthday in Germany will be one I always remember. I mean there was just so much food involved and I really love food. Gunnar bought me breakfast and Eman bought me flowers and the night before Hannah and Reagan bought me beer and french fries AND I got THREE different cakes all on the same day. How freakin' sweet is that?! And I didn't expect any of it, making my day all that much sweeter.

So in conclusion, birthday celebrations are always the best despite where you are or who you are with. Crappy things may happen on your birthday, but I find it really hard to have a bad birthday. It's all about how you want to spend your day. And I spent the majority of mine pretty drunk. Again, just kidding Mum. :)
