This week was characterized largely by crunch time. The last
full week of class before our final presentations, we had all hands on deck to
really nail down what needed to be done for our engineering projects. On top of
that, as luck would have it, we also had tests in Differential Equations in
Physiology. Fun times all around as I tried to squeeze a few extra hours out of
the week without abandoning sleep entirely.
I wasn’t all work and no play, though. On Wednesday we had a
very interesting discussion on Bioethics with one of Dr. Wasser’s colleagues.
On Friday we visited Bingen and went to a museum dedicated to Hildegard von
Bingen, a nun famous both for her powerful religious visions and her extensive
body of writings, including medical texts, musical compositions, and extensive
conversations with the leaders of her day. On Sunday the Bonn Marathon took
place. Although I personally did not compete, I did make my way down to cheer
the runners on. I even got to hand out water for a bit because a volunteer
didn’t show up for his shift! It was a good time.
This week also saw us preparing for our last major excursion
of the year: Paris. The better part of next week will be spent in one of the
oldest and most important cities in the world! Exciting stuff.
