Friday morning we got our Brussels Card for 24 euros. It allows us to visit many of the museums and take the public transportation for free for 24 hours. We went to Museum Magritte in the Palace area. You may know who Rene Magritte is from this painting:
His unique Surrealist ideology of arts roots from relationship of the "name" of an object and the object itself. Why are things given a specific name? Should the name itself imply a image of the object? Does the object have meanings other than the name implies? He explored all possibilities and presented them in his paintings.
I got a pen shaped like a paint tube. Just like Magritte believes, the appearance may not imply its function. ;)
The museum of Belgium History (BELvue) and the ancient palace of Coudenberg was right across the street. BELvue was a real palace of nobles, the interior design was astonishingly beautiful.
The remains of Coudenberg were directly below. Nobody except us were in the palace. It was cold, quiet, dark, and almost haunted. There was a little dark room with films showing on the wall on one side. It was creepy >.<.
