Tor und Kind Tor- Bundesliga Leverkusen Match

Ever since our schedule was given to us, one of the things that I had been anticipating and looking forward to the most was going to see a Bundesliga match live. Football, in the European sense, is one of the most embraced and beloved traditions of Europeans, and I knew it would be amazing to be able to watch a game in such a lively and crazy atmosphere. Upon walking up to the stadium, I was amazed by the number of fans pouring into the stands and the insane amount of red and black covering the stadium. Several of us attempted to get Leverkusen jerseys and gear, but to our disappointment, almost everything had been sold out, showing the dedication of the European fans to the sport.

As we headed to the game, a great number of us painted our faces red, white, and black in order to show our support for Leverkusen. Although several of us ended up looking like we got lost on our way to a Kiss concert, I thought it was awesome to be able to embrace the culture and show our support for Leverkusen. We all were ready to scream our lungs out, and I was very excited to yell, "Tor!!!!" whenever we scored. The face paint and the lively train ride only added to the anticipation of the game, and I knew that we were going to be in for a treat.

Although it was a little cold and rainy, I was determined to have a great time. The atmosphere was electric as soon as Leverkusen stepped out onto the pitch, and the super fan section of the stadium began to go nuts. Unfortunately, the game did not go as planned. The first goal scored was by the other team, and the only amusing part about that was the fact that Kyle didn't realize that it was the other team that had scored, and therefore, stood up and began to celebrate with fans for the other team before realizing his mistake. The rest of the game continued in the same fashion. Leverkusen went to the locker room after the first half down 2 to 0. After half time, the team did not appear to change anything. The game ended in a 4 to 1 loss, with the only goal that was scored for Leverkusen being an own goal by the other time. Chicharito did get a yellow card and almost got a red for picking a fight with a player from the other team, however, which was pretty cool. Even though the game ended in such a disappointing performance, I still had a lot of fun. We decided that we would have to go see a couple more games before we go home, and hopefully, our team will play a little better next time.

Overall, however, the atmosphere and getting to experience European football live from the stadium was an experience unlike any other that I have ever had in my life. It was definitely worth it. I cannot wait to go to another game and enjoy the amazing atmosphere. I hope that I will get the chance to go see a big name team, such as Bayern Munich, play. Growing up, I was never really a big soccer fan, but after being in the atmosphere and being able to watch a live match, I have become more excited about watching it and cannot wait for an opportunity to watch another game live. It was an awesome experience, and to be able to go with such a great group only made it that much more worth it.
