Marry a what?
Well
after the small novel that was the last blog post, I’ll try and keep this one a
little shorter than the last. Anyway,
the obvious personal event that I’m going to post about is spring break. For
spring break, we chose to go on a Mediterranean cruise. It was flippin’ sweet.
We spent days in Milan, Savona, Naples, Palermo, Tunis, Barcelona and Marseille.
All of them had really cool things about them. While we were in Milan, unknown
to us prior, it was women’s day so there was a HUGE carnival-esque party going
on in the center of the city but without alcohol. We really didn’t get to spend
very much time in Savona besides the airport but I still had a lot of fun
running around the airport and just hanging out. Naples was neat because we got
to see some of the remains of Pompeii. We would have seen more of it but we
were only allowed to walk around the outside because it was closed. While we
were walking around the outside we were fortunate enough to find a flea market.
Since flea markets are one of my favorite things to do, a flea market in Italy was
that much sweeter. In the flea market, we ran into some of the other AIB kids
who happened to be there while we were from the Penn State program. It was
really cool to run into them and was a weird coincidence. In Palermo we ran
around the city and just explored. We saw a pretty cathedral ate some cannoli
and window shopped. In Tunis we went on an excursion where we visited Carthage
and a huge market called the Souk where Melissa and Nicole bought some neat
rings and where we all got different essential oils that would have later been
shipped to Europe and turned into cologne and perfume. In Barcelona, we met up
with Branden, Brandon and Matt and went to the Sagrada Familia Church. It was
one of the most unique cathedrals I’ve ever seen since it was so modern and
sleek looking. We also got to eat food at a local restaurant where I had the
best sangria I’ve ever had. Afterwards we went to the post office and to a
mailbox that had a turtle that is supposed to give a lifetime of good luck to
whoever goes and rubs it. In Marseille we just explored all over the city and
ate crepes, saw an Arch de Triumph and I bought a cool Pulp Fiction shirt with
Octopuses on it. Before I knew what had happened, I was back in Bonn and Spring
break was over. It will definitely be one of those spring breaks I’ll remember
for the rest of my life.
