On Friday morning, we slept in and
then ate the delicious breakfast at home that I look forward to daily. Then
Melissa and I went in to Bonn to go shopping. We spent all our money at the
first store we found (literally right by the hauptbahnhof) so we decided not to
go to any others. We headed to Deutche Bank to get more cash and on the way we
saw these cute Karneval cakes at a bakery. We got one and walked to a table
outside to eat it. We realized we were using one of the eis café tables, and
when a waiter came by we felt obligated to order something. Turned out to be
for the better though because we got fancy fruit and yogurt-eis treats that
were really good! We went home for dinner and then went out to a party with our
host sister and her friends. The party turned out to be pretty far away and
when we got there it was way too crowded to get in (not to mention it was a
bunch of sixteen year olds). So we met up with some friends and went to Köln
for the night.
On Saturday we drove into Bonn with
our host dad and host sister. We walked around and got currywurst and then we
split up from them to work of homework at a Starbucks. That night we made the
excellent decision to stay in and have a movie night instead of going out. (We
watched Pirates of the Caribbean instead of going to the Pirate themed party.)
This morning we got up early to
attend the parade in our village (Hangelar). Then we came back home and had a
huge brunch like we usually do on Sundays. We got scrambled eggs! Then we sat
outside in the sun for a while because it was a beautiful day. Then we went to
another parade, this time for the city of Sankt Augustin. I got hit in the head
by so much candy. Tomorrow we will probably be attending one last parade. I
already have way more candy than I could possibly eat, especially since I was
planning on giving up sweets for lent. I will just have to eat as many sweets
as possible before then!
