White Smoke

The first day of Rome trip was unorganized, moody, and rainy. The original Colosseum visit was taken off the to-do list because of the horribly dark and wet weather. We decided to go to Vatican Museums, where we could enjoy some indoor arts and sculptures.

The Vatican Museums were incredibly long. 11 museums awaited in the vast area of buildings, courtyards, and gardens. The visit was tiring for people who did not expect a lot of rooms to visit like us. It took us several hours to finish a fast glance of everything in the series of museums.

St. Peters stood 5 min away so we went there to take a look. The line appeared to be incredibly long, stretching from the entrance to the other side of the square. But it did not take too long for us to get in. The basilica was absolutely  gorgeous and worth the rain drops we caught on our shirts!

When we walked out of the St. Peters, we saw 3 giant screens in front of the basilica focusing on the chimney. We joined the "chimney watchers" to wait for the white smoke, which we believed would appear for sure today (not really sure but definitely had high expectations).

Someone standing next to us said the white smoke would appear whenever they have a successful vote, if not, the black smoke would appear at 7:30pm.

We waited for so long that all four of us were exhausting, hungry, freezing, and totally soaked in the rain. We decide to wait for a little long and go to Hard Rock cafe for dinner. Then several minutes later the white smoke appeared but we were in the cafe. We stuffed everything we ordered in 1 min and sprinted to the

By the time we ran out, tons of people already swarmed the square. We were getting pushed and pulled everywhere so we could not get a closer look. It was so sad we couldn't get a picture of the white smoke. D:
