Viva la Spring Break!

I think it's safe to say, my spring break was probably the most cultural week of my life. With a group of 8, we spent 4 nights in Rome and 4 nights in Athens. Among the things we saw were the Roman Forum, the Coliseum, the Vatican, the Acropolis, Ancient Agora, and pretty much all the ruins of the two ancient cultures. We were lucky enough to be in Rome for the convening of the conclave to elect a new pope. This was a curse in that Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel was closed, as well as his Piata, and Peters crucifixion site. We did get to experience the grandeur of St. Peter's Basillica and waiting for smoke to emerge for the little chimney istalled on the Sistine Chapel's roof. We were actually approached and interviewed by a Houston news crew and had our 5 minutes of fame. Athens was nice but the weather was not as warm as we had hoped, and the beaches weren't busy. We made the best of our time, and this was hands down the best spring break I have had, and probably will ever have.
