Bonn From a Distance

The hike that we took on Saturday made me feel as if I were back in the Smoky Mountains again, but with a great touch of German culture that certainly cannot be found in my home state of Tennessee. I felt completely at home being surrounded by beautiful tall trees, but was also getting to experience a hike through the mountains in an entirely different way. When we reached the top of the mountain(or perhaps hill considering the real mountains in Europe, the Alps, are so much taller), a breakfast of bratwurst and mold wine awaited us. The wine tasted interesting, and in addition to its peculiar flavor, it was served hot.

From the area where we were served breakfast, we had a great view of Bonn below us, and far in the distance Cologne was also visible. It was awesome to get a birds-eyeish view of the city that we will be living in for the next three and a half months. After enjoying the view for a bit and snapping some pictures to appease my mom, I headed around the corner to check out the church that was behind us. I don't know too much about Catholic churches, but this one was definitely the cool beans. It was quite small, but being on top of a mountain can make just about anything substantially more intriguing. Once everyone had enough time to see the church and city view of Bonn, we began our trek back down the mountain. Along the path there were many historical spots that were fun to look at and take pictures, but sadly I couldn't understand the informational plaques that accompanied them because ich spreche kein Deutsch.
